LAHORE, Oct 15: The recent National Security Council meeting had been called to highlight the importance of the “unconstitutional” body, a PML-N leader alleged on Saturday.

Provincial secretary-general Syed Zaeem Husain Qadri said in a press statement that the MMA component should not walk into the trap laid by the dictatorship to perpetuate itself in power.

NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani, who belongs to the JUI-F, had participated in the Oct 12 NSC meeting which announced a grant of Rs1,000 million for his province.

Qadri said Nawaz Sharif had directed his party not to involve itself in political activities in the prevailing situation. Instead, he had asked the party to play a more active role in the reconstruction of the affected areas.
