VEHARI: The district police claim to have busted an inter-district gang, allegedly involved in over 100 incidents of target killing, kidnap for ransom and dacoity, arresting seven suspects on Friday night.

DPO Zahid Nawaz said at a press conference on Saturday that ‘Layari gang’ was active in Karachi, Lahore, Vehari and other districts. He said the gang also looted more than 28 traders and shopkeepers of Vehari, Mailsi and Burewala.

He said the gang members belonged to Lyari area of Karachi, and were arrested in a week by the district police, recovering a large number of weapons from them.

The DPO said the police had earlier busted Shabbir and Fani gangs operating in the district.

Multan Regional Police Officer Syed Khuram Ali distributed commendation certificates among police officials for their outstanding performance .
