GUJAR KHAN: Former PML-N MPA from Jhelum Chaudhry Nadeem Khadim along with 43 others was booked for allegedly attacking a restaurant in Jhelum on Monday.

Tahir Aslam reported to the Saddar police that Mr Khadim, Chaudhry Rashid, Chaudhry Ghulam Ahmed, Irtiza Razaq and 40 other unknown people attacked his restaurant, manhandled him and his staff, broke the lock of his office, took away Rs3.19 million besides damaging property.

He said they also broke CCTV cameras and recordings. The attack was aimed at occupying the restaurant by using force, he alleged. A video showing dozens of people rampaging the restaurant went viral on social media.

District Police Officer (DPO) Shakir Hussain Dawar removed SHO Saddar Zaheeruddin Babar for not registering an FIR and taking immediate action against those involved in the incident.

A spokesperson for the DPO said investigation teams had been constituted and raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects.

According to the preliminary police investigation, the former MPA and Tahir Aslam are business partners and a dispute between them led to the incident.
