ISLAMABAD: A motorcyclist was killed after his throat was slit by a kite string here on Saturday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Zafar Iqbal, 45, a security guard and a resident of Mulsim Town.

He was on his way home when the string hit him in Khanna East, said the police. As a result, he died on the spot.

After getting information, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital.

The victim’s family was informed about the incident but they refused to lodge an FIR, saying it was an accident.

The issue was brought to the knowledge of senior police officers on whose directive a case was registered in response to a complaint lodged by a sub-inspector (SI).

Meanwhile, robbers looted cash and ornaments worth Rs4 million from the house of Ghulam Jillani in G-11/4, the police said.

In another incident, burglars broke into the house of Roohullah in G-11/2 and made off with cash, ornaments, prize bonds and mobile phones worth Rs2million.

Furthermore, cash, ornaments worth Rs1.6million were stolen from the house of Karamat Niazi. He suspected that his maids were involved in the theft and nominated them in a complaint.

Similarly, robbers looted Rs55,000 at gunpoint from a shop of Majid Ali in Ghouri Town Phase 5.

In another incident, gunmen snatched cash, a vehicle and mobile phone worth Rs100,000 from Jawad Hussain in Iqbal Town.

Robbers snatched cash from a woman in Alipur. The woman was walking on a road when she was intercepted by the robbers.

Moreover, a car and two motorcycles were lifted from Blue Area, Gulberg Green and Bilal Town.
