SWAT: The police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a female madrassah teacher for allegedly slitting the throat of a three-year-old boy on Feb 24.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, SP investigations Mohammad Nazir Khan said the incident occurred in a madrassah in Sethi Mills Mohallah area of Amankot, near Mingora.

“Three-year-old Mohammad Ihsan was found critically injured inside the madrassah, who had gone there along with his sister,” he said, adding father of the injured, Amjad Ali, had filed a report in the police station concerned.

He said to trace the culprit behind the incident a special investigation team was formed under him.

He said it was claimed initially that the boy’s throat was slit by a kite string, but the investigators suspected it and reached the culprit, who confessed to her crime.

She told the police that she wanted to get the sister of the victim married to her brother, but the victim’s parents refused. To take revenge I tried to kill the boy and stop the marriage,” SP Nazir Khan quoted the woman as telling the police.

He said she had used a blade to cut the boy’s throat.

The police officer said the victim was out of danger.
