TAXILA: A nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and strangled to death in Natroppa in the jurisdiction of Hazro police station on Sunday.

Behram Khan, the victim’s father, informed the police that he had come to Punjdher village along with his wife and children to attend a marriage ceremony from where his daughter went missing.

Later, her body was found in an under-construction house near Chach interchange.

Police reached the spot and shifted the deceased to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where after medical examination, it was confirmed that she had been raped. A case was registered under section 302 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and further investigation is underway.

District Police Officer Khalid Hamdani constituted different teams to arrest those involved in the heinous crime.
