THE Hawkesbay beach has always been a great picnic spot for the people of Sindh, in particular of Karachi. Trips to Karachi would remain incomplete for people from different parts of the country without visiting its beautiful beaches.
Unfortunately, one of the few good things that the city offers to tourists has been snatched from it, courtesy the depleted 25km road leading to the Hawkebay beach.
The road is full of potholes (as can bee seen in the accompanying picture by Mohammad Hussain), which is why, more often than not, there are traffic jams.
They also cause wear and tear to the vehicles. Perhaps, those in power either do not go to the beaches or are not shaken up while travelling on the road in their large luxury vehicles.
I urge the authorities concerned to convert all dirt tracks into real metalled roads leading to the Hawkesbay and Sandspit beaches.
