JAKARTA, Oct 13: The Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) has invited representatives of 44 Japanese companies manufacturing components to explore business and investment opportunities in Indonesia following the Indonesian government’s request to Japan to increase its investment in industry in particular, a spokesman said.

“The aim of the mission is to support the development of component industry in Indonesia. We hope there will be a cooperation in investment, sending of experts and exchange of information,” Kosuke Imashimizu, president director of Jetro Jakarta Centre, said in a briefing on the planned Third Component Bourse here on Thursday.

He said most of the companies in the mission did not yet have contacts with Indonesian businessmen or know the country. But, Imashimizu said a few had business contacts in export to Indonesia.

“They want to explore possible business in Indonesia, to find good partners and know more details of the investment climate in Indonesia,” he said.

He said that Jetro hoped there would be cooperation in business and investment, in component manufacturing in particular, to fulfil raw material of the Japanese industry in Indonesia and Asean by using AFTA scheme.—APP
