KARACHI, Oct 12: A fine half-century by Daniyal Ahsan and equally good batting by fellow youngster Faraz Patel inspired Customs CC to a 30-run victory over Cantt Sports in the 20th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Festival at the KG Ground on Wednesday.

Daniyal hammered six boundaries and a six in making 52 off just 37 deliveries and Faraz struck 40 off 39 balls with fours as Customs, electing to bat first, reached 184 for eight in their 25 overs.

Cantt Sports, in reply, made a valiant attempt to achieve victory but fell 30 runs short when they were dismissed for 154 in the 22nd over.

Only openers Mohammad Masroor (21 off 12 balls), Sajid Hanif (24) and veteran Iqbal Imam, who blasted a 35-ball 52 with three sixes and four fours, were able to make worthwhile contributions for the losers.

Summarised scores:

Customs CC beat Cantt Sports by 30 runs.

CUSTOMS CC 184-8 in 25 overs (Daniyal Ahsan 52, Faraz Patel 40, Rashid Ali 22, Raza Ali 20; Mohammad Javed 2-18, Iqbal Imam 2-39);
