KARACHI: Senior educationist and former principal of Government Sir Syed Girls College Mrs Amna Kamal played a key role in promotion of healthy sports activities when she was at the helm of the institution.

Mrs Kamal passed away in Karachi on Monday morning after protracted illness.

“Sir Syed College teams used to dominate inter-collegiate competitions and remained champions in different disciplines for years,” said former directress of physical education of the college Mrs Naseem Usman Nagi while paying her tribute. “It was her blessing that motivated me to take the college at the top in sports.”

Mrs Nagi recalled that the late principal had appointed her and built her confidence. She added that the gymnasium in the college was also built during Mrs Kamal’s era.

Sir Syed Girls College had the honour of producing one of the top debaters in Khushbakht Shujat besides grooming many top women athletes.
