SADIQABAD, Oct 12: As the tectonic structure in various parts of the country has suffered the worst shock in the recent quake, a 70-year-old run-down building of a veterinary hospital in Sadiqabad is one of hundreds of facilities crying out against step-motherly treatment being meted out to them by the authorities concerned.

Dilapidated and weak its structure is, the hospital is posing a serious threat to the doctor community working there. All departments concerned have so far turned a blind eye to the “living danger”.

The building, constructed in 1935, is situated in the centre of the main city and is surrounded by tehsil and judicial premises. The condition of the roofs is extremely precarious and so is the boundary wall.

Demanding immediate action to save the run-down building from collapse, some known landlords have blamed the district government for the hospital’s sorry state of affairs.

They say the doors and windows of the main block are almost shattered and the boundary wall can collapse any time.

Heaps of filth amply reflect on the sanitary conditions at the hospital where, according to the concerned circles, the patients (animals) can contract diseases instead of being properly treated and looked after.

Unavailability of facilities for treatment of patients is the worst of it all.

Social circles have called for prompt action by the department concerned so that the hospital may not be one of the ill-fated structures in future.
