LAHORE: Master Paints beat BN Polo in sudden death chukker of a thrilling final of the Aquafina Allama Iqbal Polo Cup here at the Jinnah Polo and Country Club (JP&CC) on Sunday.

Marcos Panelo smashed five goals for the winners while Mumtaz Abbas Niazi struck a hat-trick. Juan Cruz Losada and Raja Jalal Arslan chipped in with one each.

For the losing side, Eulogio Celestino slammed six goals, Tito Ruiz Guinazu scored a brace and Raja Mikael Sami added one.

The nail-biting decider started as both the teams scored two goals each in the first chukker. The losing side managed to get a slim 4-3 lead in the second chukker. The third chukker saw Master Paints earn five goals against two by BN Polo, giving the former a 8-6 lead.

However in the final chukker, the winners failed to maintain ascendancy as the BN Polo after conceding one more goal in the beginning, struck three before the whistle to extend the decision to the fifth chukker, which was played on sudden-death. In this chukker, Raja Jalal hit the winner for Master Paints.

Earlier, an exhibition match of the kids was played between Team Red and Team White and after a tough fight, Team Red emerged winners 2-1.
