MIRPURKHAS: Hundreds of farmers held a demonstration at Sindhri roundabout on Wednesday and blocked Mirpurkhas-Sanghar and Mirpurkhas-Khipro roads in protest against acute shortage of water in distributaries fed by Mithrao Canal.

The protesters led by Abdul Razzaq Raho put up hurdles and burnt tyres to block roads and chanted slogans against SDO of Sindhri subdivision and his staff. They told media persons that half of the canals in Sindhri subdivision were running dry because of prolonged rotation programme while water was being supplied to distributaries at very low gauge.
