SKARDU, Oct 10: Severe jolts of earthquake were felt in the two districts of Baltistan on Saturday morning like the other parts of the country. However, no casualties have been reported from anywhere of Skardu and Ghanche districts.

According to a report received from the deputy commissioner here, 28 houses collapsed in the Thelli town of Gultary sub-division. The occupants had evacuated the homes when the jolt started.

In Ghasing village of Kharmang Sub-division, a 22-year-old girl received injuries in landslides. She has been taken to the district headquarter hospital where her condition is stated to be in danger.

The quake destroyed two shops in Mehdiabad and damaged one shop in Tolti Kharmang. The jolts followed by landslides blocked the Skardu Gilgit road followed. According to the Ghanche deputy commissioner, no loss of life has been reported in the entire district.
