LARKANA, Oct 10: Recounting of the rejected votes for the post district nazim was held here on Monday. Moazzam Abbasi, the defeated candidate of the Awam Dost Panel, had moved the district returning officer for the recounting of 26 rejected votes.

During the recount five out of 26 rejected votes were found valid, said Mr Abbasi.

In the third phase of the local body election on October 6, Mohammed Bakhsh Arijo of the KPP and Moazzam Abbasi of the ADP had obtained 277 and 252 votes, respectively.

Mr Abbasi said he would move the chief election commissioner for recounting of the total votes polled.

MPA Ayaz Soomro, district president of the PPP, said the application to this effect had been sent to the chief election commissioner on Monday.

Asked what would be the recourse in case the application was rejected, he said constitutional petition would be filed in the high Court. He said that Yasir Junejo had been nominated as candidate of the ADP for the seat of taluka naib nazim, Larkana.—BoC
