HYDERABAD: Rallies and different programmes were held across Sindh on Friday on the occasion of the Kashmir Solidarity Day to highlight the plight of people in the occupied region at the hands of the Indian government.
People from all walks of life participated in the events organised by political, religious, social, non-profit and government organisations throughout the province.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) of Hyderabad staged a rally at the Universal Chowk while Dr Farooq Sattar of the MQM-P organising committee addressed a rally at the Milad-i-Mustafa Chowk.
Muttahida parliamentarians Salahuddin and Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani, and district organiser Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui condemned the United Nations’ “silence” over the rights’ violations in India-held Kashmir.
At the local press club, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) naib emir Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui addressed a rally.
Speaking at a party workers’ gathering, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Noorani) president Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair said the sacrifices of Kashmiri brethren would certainly produce result.
The Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Hyderabad chapter also brought out ‘Sadaqat-i-Siddiq-i-Akbar and Yakjehti Kashmir Rally’ from Hyderabad chowk to the local press club.
The Pak Sarzameen Party Hyderabad division chapter brought out a rally from the Pakistan House to the press club.
The Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen Hyderabad district also held programme while Sunni Ulema Council and the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Hyderabad chapter staged separate rallies.
The Pakistan Peoples Party staged a big rally of its women wing from Rawal House to the Hatri bypass.
Officials of the Hyderabad district administration led by Commissioner Abbas Baloch and Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro marched from Shahbaz Building to the Postmaster General Sindh office.
A stage was set up outside the press club under the aegis of Kashmir Committee to welcome participants of various rallies. Rose petals were also showered on the participants.
The Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry and the All Pakistan Wapda
Hydro Electric Workers Union also staged rallies.
The Baldia Aala Staff Union Hyderabad, All Revenue Sindh Employees Association and All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation Sindh brought out rallies separately.
Similar rallies were held in district Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and Matiari.
In Jamshoro, huge rallies were taken out in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and Sindh University.
LARKANA: Big rallies were held in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts.
The key function was held at Government Pilot Higher Secondary School.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Sonia Kaleem led a rally from the school.
Another big rally was taken out under the flag of National Peace Council (NPC) from Abdul Latif Nizamani Labour Hall to Jinnah Garden.
SUKKUR: A big event was held in Sukkur after taking out a rally by the district administration from Jinnah Municipal Stadium to the press club.
In Jacobabad, the district administration took out a rally from Bahria College to DC Chowk.
The Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) took out a rally, held a protest sit-in in front of the press club of Jacobabad and burnt an Indian flag there.
The JI staged a rally and burnt an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in front of the press club.
In Kandhkot, the district administration held a rally from the DC office to the Clock Tower roundabout.
The JUI-F also took out separate rallies under leadership of its local representatives.
In Khanpur Mahar of Ghotki district, the All Union Council Taluka Khangarh took out a rally to the taluka press club.
In Mirpur Mathelo, the district administration took out a rally while the Shia Ulema Council staged a march.
Similar rallies were also taken out in other big and small towns to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
MIRPURKHAS: The district administration held a rally which culminated at the local press club.
Other organizations took out rallies from the Railway Station Chowk to the local press club to express their solidarity with Kashmiri people.
According to reports, rallies were also held in Mirwah Gorchani, Digri, Jhuddo, Naokot, Kot Ghulam Mohammad and Sindhri.
DADU: Teachers and students took out a rally from Government Ustad Bukhari Degree College for boys to the Dadu Press Club.
Another rally was taken out by civil society and citizens in Dadu city, which after marching on different roads and streets, reached the press club. The protesters burnt photos and effigies of Indian prime minister.
Journalists of Dadu also staged a rally to show solidarity with Kashmiri people.
Five similar rallies were taken out in KN Shah, seven in Johi, five in Mehar, five in Sehwan and five in Kotri town.
District police took out a huge rally which after marching on different roads and streets, reached the press club. Senior police officers and officials of the district administration participated in the rally.
MITHI: People from various walks of life and school children in Chhachhro, Islamkot. Nagarparkar, Chelhar, Diplo, Kaloi, Kantio and Kasbo took out rallies to denounce the Indian atrocities against the Kashmiris.
The main event was held in Mithi where people and schoolchildren converged at Kashmir Chowk where Tharparkar DC Mohammad Nawaz Soho and others spoke to them.
SHIKARPUR: The district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Kashif Nabi Khuhro took out a rally from Jahaz Chowk to the Shikarpur Press Club. Officials of various government departments participated in it.
Various schools in four talukas of Shikarpur district held programmes on the occasion.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Several rallies were taken out in Naushahro Feroze and adjoining towns on Friday to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Rallies were taken out by administrations of Al-Farooq Masjid, Jamia Masjid, the Muslim League-Nawaz and others.
Several rallies were also taken out in Moro, Bihria city, Tharo Shah, Kandiaro, Mehrabpur, Halani, Padidan, Darya Khan Marri.
NAWABSHAH: Rallies were taken out by activists and members of the JI, JUI, Shia Ulema Council, PSP, Pakistan Zindabad Movement, NICPH, minority wing and district administration, which culminated outside the Nawabshah Press Club.
BADIN: In Badin town, a big rally was taken out by the district administration from the camp office to the DCO Chowk.
Activists of the JI Badin chapter marched from Gharibabad to the press club where they held a protest.
Workers of the PTI also held rallies in Badin and Matli to express solidarity with Kashmiri people.
Similar rallies were also taken out in Tando Bago, Golarchi, Talhar, and other towns of the district.
