LAHORE, Oct 9: The Punjab University has postponed for a week the first Professional MBBS part-I annual examinations, 2005. A notification issued here on Sunday said the examination was scheduled to begin from Oct 10 (today) and it has been postponed “as the students and parents are perturbed owing to the earthquake.”
RELIEF CAMP: The Punjab University has set up an emergency camp at its Khanaspur campus, Ayubia, for the provision of medical aid to the people affected by the earthquake.
Two senior medical officers of the university would man the camp where free medicines would be given to the people.
Vice-Chancellor Arshad Mahmood also established a relief fund with a donation of Rs500,000.
COLLEGE WALL: The dilapidated outer wall of the Queen Mary College is posing a constant threat to students and passersby, calling for immediate attention by the authorities concerned.
Reports said the college’s boundary wall was constructed in early 1990’s and its huge portion tilted during the recent rainy season.
However, Saturday’s high-intensity earthquake further weakened the wall that now needs immediate attention, as its entire stretch can collapse any time.
The college administration has expressed deep concern over the situation and said it had time and again brought the situation into the notice of the department, but to no avail.
