LAHORE: Terming the distribution of millions of rupees among the PTI lawmakers in the name of development funds before the Senate election a political bribe and corruption, Jamaat-i-Islami emir Senator Sirajul Haq has reminded Prime Minister Imran Khan of his own criticism of the former governments over such practices.

“The prime minister was very vocal against the practice and now he followed the same path,” he said while talking to journalists at Mansoora on Friday.

Mr Haq said the PM had no comparison when it came to taking U-turns. The development projects should be carried out through local governments and the practice (of doling out funds), which had been adopted in Pakistan was neither democratic nor moral or legal, he added.

The JI emir said that the PTI failed to meet the expectations of the masses as corruption, unemployment and inflation had become trademarks of the party government, making the country a laughing stock in entire world and adding to the miseries of the masses with every passing day.

Earlier, Sirajul Haq participated in the funeral prayers for JI leader Hafiz Salman Butt who passed away on Thursday night. A large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayers of the former lawmaker.

Hafiz Idrees led the funeral prayers of Hafiz Salman at Mansoora.
