SUKKUR, Oct 9: Bodies of three women who were killed on the pretext of karo-kari and thrown into the Indus River have not been found by the police. The women were gunned down in Ghulam Akbar Chachar village in the Gudpur police station area in the Sukkur district on Wednesday.

Police sources said that Qadri Chachar along with his accomplices barged into the house of Ghulam Akbar Chachar and opened fire on his wife, Hasina, and two daughters, Sabira, 16, and Sajida, 15.

The assailants fled from the scene.

According to police the murders might have been the result of matrimonial dispute.

MMA: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Asadullah Bhutto has said that the movement to remove Gen Pervez Musharraf will be launched from the second day of Eid and will continue till his removal.

He was addressing a press conference in Sukkur on Saturday evening.

The MNA said there were no negotiations with the government in progress and the only aim of the opposition was to launch a protest movement against the dictator.

He said that Gen Musharraf was responsible for rigging in the elections, price hike, unemployment, and lawlessness in the country.

The MMA president said that change of prime minister was not the solution to present crises as all powers were enjoyed by the president.

He said the police officers were transferred, and the women councillors were kidnapped by the government to damage the sanctity of ballot during the LB polls.

Mr Bhutto said that his party would decide shortly whether to take part in the movement of ARD against rigging in the local body elections.

He ruled out differences in the MMA and demanded from the government to pay compensation to the earthquake affected.
