Over 1500 students to compete in forty sports events at FPS Premier League

KARACHI: The 38th Foundation Public School (FPS) Premier League commenced here on Friday at the FPS A Level Campus. More than 1500 students are taking part in the League which comprise as many as 40 events including cricket, football, basketball, badminton, throwball, athletics and table tennis.

Two new events, namely e-sports and cycling, have been introduced this year. A total of 120 matches will be played amongst the teams in addition to races for junior school students.

The league was inaugurated by MD FPS Raza Kamal Minhas. Speaking on the occasion, he said: “Sports are best way of conquering people’s hearts and our nation is really proud of our sportspersons who keep bringing the laurels for the country.

“FPS and other good educational institutions are playing their due role in discovering and grooming new talent in sports and it is very heartening to see how our students and youth are excelling in the academics as well as in sports and other fields.”

The captains of Jinnah House, Iqbal House and Liaquat House were also present at the opening ceremony and traditionally One house will take home the House Trophy. The League will conclude on Thursday, March 11 with the distribution of awards and medals.

The Premier League is one of the hallmarks of FPS which has remained at the forefront of educational leadership and holistic student development for 40 years.

This year, the format of the League has been redesigned keeping in mind Covid-19SOPs, which will be strictly followed to ensure students’ safety.
