RAWALPINDI: The 15-day anti-typhoid vaccination campaign will begin from Feb 1 in Rawalpindi’s 113 urban union councils (UCs) along with other areas of the district under which 1.8 million children, aged nine months to 15 years will be vaccinated.
Deputy Commissioner retired Capt Anwarul Haq reviewed arrangements for the campaign and asked the District Health Authority to set up points in all union councils of the district so all children could be administered vaccination.
He also asked the health authority to ensure monitoring of vaccinators and make sure that the vaccine is available a day earlier. District officials informed the deputy commissioner that over 1,876,539 children from nine months to 15 years will be vaccinated under the Typhoid Prevention Campaign in the 123 union councils of the district.
They said training of field staff had been completed and 226 area in-charges will supervise 1,100 teams during the campaign, adding that the first phase of the campaign will begin on Feb 1, during which children in urban areas of 18 districts of the province will be vaccinated against typhoid.
They said people from all walks of life should play their part in making this campaign a success.
