RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: The local police on Sunday set up a relief counter at Pirwadhai bus terminal to facilitate the people intend ng to travel to the quake-hit Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot to know about the fate of their near and dear ones.

District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Aziz told this reporter that a relief counter had been set up at Pirwadhai bus terminal and 82 buses arranged to facilitate the people intending to reach Bagh, Rawalakot and Muzaffarabad where the quake had played havoc.

A convoy of five buses escorted by a police van will leave Rawalpindi at different intervals.

People from different parts of the country are trying to reach the quake-hit areas but disruption in the communication and transport system is causing hindrances.

Meanwhile, the state-run hospitals in Rawalpindi, including the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), were flooded with injured people brought from different quake-hit areas on Sunday night, hospital authorities said.

In Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH), the wards were evacuated to accommodate the injured people coming from Muzaffarabad and other parts of the country. Injured people are also pouring in the District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital.

Meanwhile, two robberies were committed and three persons were deprived of their vehicles in different parts of Rawalpindi, police said on Sunday.

Doctor Tariq told the New Town police that four robbers stormed into his house and held his family at gunpoint. The robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones and escaped.

A gang of four robbers raided the house of Saqib Hussain in Mandhra and made away with Rs75,000 and gold ornaments.
