KARACHI, Oct 9: The Pakistan People’s Party-Parliamentarians has decided to donate one month salary of its legislators to the relief fund created by the party for providing immediate relief to those affected by the worst ever earthquake that hit the northern areas of Pakistan on Saturday.

The decision was taken on Sunday in the joint meeting of the PPP’s Karachi Coordination Committee and Sindh Executive Council.

The meeting was chaired by PPP Sindh chief Syed Qaim Ali Shah and attended by Aftab Shaaban Mirani, Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, Taj Haider, Manzoor Wassan, Agha Siraj Durrani, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Sattar Bachani, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani, Lal Buksh Bhutto, Shah Mohammad Shah, Dr Mahesh Mallani and Rafiq Engineer.

Donation of the one-month salary by the senators, MNAs and MPAs would be in addition to the relief amount and goods the party would provide to the affected people. Special camps have already been set up by the PPP in various parts of the province to collect donations in cash and kind.

PPP Doctor’s Forum has also been mobilized to send a team of doctors and paramedics, carrying life-saving drugs, to the quake-hit areas of Islamabad, Kashmir, NWFP, Northern Areas and other parts of the country.

The meeting also urged people to donate imperishable food items for immediate use, as well as blankets, tents, essential commodities and life-saving drugs.
