PESHAWAR: A Special Branch official was shot dead by a colleague here on Wednesday morning.

Ziatullah was killed while checking a hotel in Dabgari area.

Though the motive was not immediately clear, the police officials said both the cops had exchanged hot words earlier.

Funeral prayers of the slain were offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.

Meanwhile, city police chief Abbas Ahsan suspended an acting deputy superintendent of police for releasing three accused from police custody despite a court had cancelled their bail in expired drug case.

The police chief has also ordered an inquiry.

Dr Ahmed Gul, Khan Akbar and Sabz Ali were arrested for storing huge quantity of expired injections.
