ISLAMABAD: Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) Senate on Wednesday took several important decisions including demotion of those employees of the university, who were promoted in violations of rules and regulations.

Chaired by President Dr Arif Alvi, the Senate also decided to fix the responsibility for making such promotions in violation of rules.

“The meeting approved the recommendations made by the Senate sub-committee with regard to promotions. It agreed to fix the responsibility for making promotions in violation of rules,” read an official press release, issued after the Senate meeting.

A sub-committee of the Senate while probing the promotions made in controversial 29th and 30th selection boards of the university held in 2017-18, had recommended demotion of all those, who were promoted in violations of rules and also recommended that responsibility should be fixed for making promotions against the rules.

The report of the sub-committee was taken up by Senate, which after holding discussion approved the report and directed the Comsats University to implement it.

Sources said that 68 employees will face demotion in the light of the sub-committee recommendations.

The senate, according to the press release, also accorded approval to the recommendations made by the search committee regarding the appointment of director campuses and controller of examinations.
