PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday directed the district administrations across the province to move vegetable markets and bus stands out of cities.

Chairing a meeting of deputy commissioners, Mr Mahmood also directed the district administrations to regularly hold open kutcheris and revenue darbars at local level to know about the people’s issues and ensure their resolution for good governance.

The meeting was also attended by chief secretary Dr Kazim Niaz and divisional commissioners, said a statement issued here.

The chief minister said giving the maximum relief to the people and resolving their issues at the local level was the main objectives of the government’s endeavours.

Asks district admins to regularly hold open kutcheris, revenue darbars

He said all DCs should ensure the people’s easy and all-time access to their offices.

Mr Mahmood directed the district administrations to take necessary measures to move all vegetable markets and bus stands out of cities, devise effective strategy to stop illegal mining in some pockets of the province, and immediately remove the illegal crushing machines from riverbeds.

He also directed the deputy commissioners to expedite campaigns against encroachments and polythene shopping bags in their respective districts.

The chief minister asked the relevant officials to enforce ban on the use of polythene bags in all tourist resorts of the province.

Appreciating measures of the district administrations for coronavirus control and prevention and enforcement of the good governance strategy, he said KP stood on top of the list at national level regarding the implementation of that strategy.

Mr Mahmood, however, said there was room for improvement and the district administrations should play due role to take it to the next level.

Regarding the implementation of the government’s policy on postings and transfers, he directed the deputy commissioners to reshuffle all subordinate staff members of their offices, who had been holding current posts for more than two years.

The chief minister also ordered the inter-district transfer of revenue officials at divisional level.

He said clean and green initiative was one of the priority areas of his government and that the initiative would be made a real success story in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Mr Mahmood directed the deputy commissioners to begin massive plantation campaigns in their respective areas during the upcoming season.

He stressed the need for the timely completion of all ongoing development schemes at district level without compromising the quality and quantity of work and directed heads of the district administrations to have a close watch on those schemes.
