SHANGLA: The Bisham tehsil municipal administration’s building control authority has issued notices to owners of commercial buildings and construction sites being built along the Karakoram Highway to submit their building maps or face legal action.

The authority has also issued final notices to 13 big hotels in Bisham to submit drawings on which the buildings had been constructed.

TMO Mazhar Muzaffar Awan told this correspondent that under the government policy obtaining no-objection certificate from the relevant TMA and approval of the drawing or building map were mandatory for buildings in the province.

“We have issued final notices to owners of 13 buildings for submission of the drawing of their respective buildings constructed in the past,” he said.

The TMO said the owners should submit the drawings within three days. He said such notices would also be issued to residential buildings in the second phase.

SEWAGE PROBLEM: People of Bisham city and nearby areas have complained to the local administration to ask the local flour mills to make alternative arrangement for disposal of their waste, saying polluted water from one of the mills could be seen inundating the Karakoram Highway, causing problems for pedestrians.

They told mediapersons that a flour mill located near Bisham city was causing pollution.

Baba Khan, a resident, said people of over 20 villages used the road to reach Bisham bazaar for shopping.

He said that on the way from government higher secondary school to Dubair flour mill they faced problems while crossing this stretch of the road.

He said standing water and rotten wheat chaff could be seen on the Karakoram Highway.

When contacted, TMO Muzaffar Awan said it was not the job of his department, but of the environment department. However, he said he would assign his staff to clean the area and main drain.
