RAWALPINDI, Oct 7: Rawalpindi police on Friday found an abandoned bag containing arms and ammunition outside a mosque in Saddar Bairooni area.

District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Aziz said two security guards had been deputed outside Ali Mosque; one by the police and the other by the mosque administration. They spotted an abandoned bag lying outside the mosque and informed the police.

The DPO said eight loaded pistols with silencers and 125 bullets were found from the bag by the bomb disposal and police experts.

Quoting the police guard deployed at Ali Mosque, the DPO said two persons had been watching the mosque since last night and they disappeared after leaving the bag.

“Perhaps, the terrorists were waiting for a chance to attack during prayer time, but they failed to do so due to presence of the police and security guard,” the DPO said.

He said the police have started looking for the two suspected terrorists.

Meanwhile, a newly-elected ruling party nazim of UC Sakoot Dobaran Kallar Syedan was booked on charges of kidnapping two girls, police said on Friday.

Ali Asghar lodged a complaint with Kallar Syedan police, saying that his daughter and niece had allegedly been abducted by Raja Nadeem, the newly-elected nazim of the ruling party and his accomplice.
