SHEIKHUPURA: The district administration, after a meeting with the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) planning wing officials on Tuesday, decided to close 37 private housing colonies running in the district.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Asghar Joiya where LDA officials said a comprehensive survey to scrutinise the documents of housing societies of the 37 colonies was conducted which found the projects had been carried out with bogus, illegal and fabricated documents.
The colonies are located on GT Road, Haider Road near motorway bypass, Bhule Bhaniwal Road, Shah Khalid Road, College Road, Vandyala Dyal Shah Road, Kala Shah Kaku bypass, Chak 39, Sharaqpur Road, Jaranwala Road, Main Adhian Road, Faizpur Interchange, Shamke Gardan Road, Canal Road in Muridke, Nizam Park, Kot Hanif Narang Road, village Ludan near Ravi Ryan factory, and Bhoor Basti Road.
The deputy commissioner said the revenue record pertaining to the localities was found bogus and fictitious, so the public should refrain from contracting any deal with them. Those already in deals with these societies should contact the assistant commissioners of Ferozewala and Muridke tehsils. The ACs of both tehsils have been directed to launch vigorous operations against the owners of illegal colonies and resolve public grievances.
