In a communique to airlines, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has notified revised restrictions for inbound travellers coming to Pakistan from the UK and South Africa.

The measures effective Jan 5 are:

  • Pakistani passport holders with any type of British or South African visa may travel to Pakistan in accordance with applicable SOPs while in possession of a negative PCR test result, conducted within 72 hours before travel. They will be subject to a PCR test and quarantine upon arrival.
  • Diplomats and their families may also travel to Pakistan from the two countries with a negative PCR test.

The measures effective Jan 9 till 2359 hours on Jan 31 are:

  • In addition to the above exemptions, passengers holding valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Pakistan Origin Card (POC) who have been to the UK or South Africa in the last 10 days may also travel to Pakistan with a negative PCR test result.
  • From Jan 9, all passengers falling in the above categories will be subject to Rapid Antigen Tests upon arrival; all negative travellers will be allowed to leave the airport with advice to self-isolate, while those testing positive will be subject to a PCR test with advice to quarantine till the test result arrives.
