KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead by an officer of the Airport Security Force (ASF) in the Sachal area on Sunday, according to police.

Officials at the Sachal police station said that three armed robbers snatched cash and other valuables from Mr Asad, an ASF inspector, and his friend at Khatm-i-Nabuwwat Chowk near Scout Colony. As the suspects were fleeing, the officer fired on them with his licensed pistol, killing two of them, the police said, adding that the third one managed to escape.

The police claimed to have seized two pistols, a motorcycle, a snatched mobile phone and the looted cash from the dead suspects.

The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

In another incident, the Sir Syed police claimed to have killed a suspected robber in an exchange of fire at UP Morr. His companion managed to escape, they said.

The police also claimed to have seized a pistol from the dead suspect.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The identity of the three suspects could not be ascertained immediately.
