LOWER DIR: Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Humayun Khan has said that the National Accountability Bureau is being used for political victimisation of opposition leaders. He said that the PDM’s protest campaign would continue until the ‘selected’ prime minister was ousted.

He was speaking at a press conference in Chakdara Press Club after attending a meeting of PPP office-bearers from all districts of Malakand division here the other day.

Mr Humayun said that PPP would host the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s rally in Batkhela on Jan 11 for which all arrangements had been finalised.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had gifted the nation with record price hike, unemployment and corruption. He added that the nation could not tolerate the PTI-led government anymore. The PPP leader said that his party had experienced leadership that could steer the country out of the current crises. He said the PDM’s public meeting in Batkhela on Jan 11 would be addressed by its top leadership. He asked the party workers to mobilise people to participate in the rally. PPP divisional president Afsarul Mulk and Malakand district president Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha were present on the occasion besides party’s former ministers.

COMPLAINT: A resident of Gurgia village near Afghan refugee camp in Timergara on Saturday complained that the local police were avoiding arrest of thieves who had looted his house here the other night.

Speaking at a press conference at Timergara Press Club, one Mohammad Yousuf alleged that Afghan nationals Gul, Sultan, Mohammad Hussain and Wahab barged into his house and took away two tola gold jewellery, Rs80,000 cash and a mobile phone.

“I was in Peshawar in connection with my medical treatment, but some guests were sleeping in my Hujra who overpowered one of the robbers, identified as Gul,” he said. The resident said he had lodged an FIR, but the police were yet to arrest the accused.
