KARACHI, Oct 6: Three ships carrying rice and containers were berthed at MPT and

QICT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday. Meanwhile, five more ships with containers, edible oil, diesel oil and chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy stayed on the higher side at 78 per cent as seven ships, Asian Trader, Contship Tamarind, Hyderabad, Entalina, Bai, Evanglos-L and Joyos Age, were busy in loading and unloading oil, sugar an wheat.

Cargo handling activity was brisk as a total tonnage of 86,258 tons comprising 75,268 tons of import and 10,990 tons of export cargo was handled.

Sailing was slow as only Sealand Freedom left the port while Contship Tamarind was due to leave on Thursday. Three ships, Saudi Abha, Al Wajba and Anette Kosan, were due to take berths.
