SARGODHA, Oct 5: Two men were killed and one critically injured in an explosion at the CNG station here on Wednesday on Link Stadium Road. Reports said the tank and cylinders of the CNG station exploded suddenly when two vehicles were parked for filling at 8.30am. As a result of which an employee, Sarfraz, was killed on the spot and Muhammad Iqbal, and Ashraf received critical injuries, besides damage to the vehicles. Later, Iqbal died in hospital.

The explosion created panic in the area while residents and patients in hospitals faced difficulty in inhaling.

DIG Pervez Akbar Lodhi and DPO Muhammad Naeem reached the spot and conducted rescue operation under their supervision.

Meanwhile, people have voiced their concern over the establishment of petrol pumps and gas stations in thickly-populated areas.

Several underground tanks containing highly flammable fuel reportedly exist in Liaquat market without seeking permission by the authorities concerned.
