SHIKARPUR: Police arrested an alleged thief and recovered Rs8.031 million stolen cash from him in Jhullan Mohalla in the jurisdiction of Lakhi Gate police station here on Monday.

Police received a complaint from engineer Riaz Ahmed Daudpoto who accused his driver and his accomplices of breaking into his house in Soomra Mohalla and taking away Rs8.031m cash during the family’s absence.

Police arrested the driver identified as Sheeraz Pathan in Jhullan Mohalla and recovered the stolen amount with the help of latest technology and CCTV footage. His other accomplices fled. An FIR was registered at Lakhi Gate police station under sections 457 and 380.

The ASP said that it was prime responsibility of police to provide security to life and property of all citizens and no one would be allowed to take law into their own hands.
