Published October 6, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 5: The Sindh government has prohibited display and carriage of all weapons throughout the province for a period of 30 days with effect from Oct 4, said an official handout issued here on Wednesday.

This order shall also be applicable to personnel of law enforcing agencies when they are not in uniform.

The decision has been taken by Sindh government in order to hold last phase of local government election in fair, free and transparent manner.

The notification issued by Sindh Home Department states that it has been made to appear before provincial government that certain groups are intending to create law and order situation on the eve of third phase of local government polls in the province which could prevent organizing process of final phase of the election in a smooth, peaceful and transparent manner. —PPI
