Judges not to be daunted by problems

MANSEHRA, Jan 20: Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, chief justice of Peshawar High Court, has desired of the officers of the lower judiciary that they should work hard for providing justice to the masses despite insurmountable problems being faced by them.

He was speaking as chief guest at the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the District Bar Association (DBA) of Mansehra on Saturday.

Those who took oath include Mohammad Arshad Awan president, Syed Siraj Ahmad Shah vice-president, Shujaat Ali Khan general secretary, Haq Nawaz Khan joint secretary, Mohammad Tahir Lohdi librarian cum-treasurer and Anwar Ali Khan secretary Mansehra Bar club, also present on the occasion were Justice Shahzad Akbar of the PHC, higher officers of the local judiciary and executive, district Nazim Mohammad Azam Khan Swati and Tehsil Nazim Mansehra Mohammad Farooq Khan. The chief justice said that prior to me, my predecessors have been making efforts to solve the problems of the lower judiciary.

I have recently taken charge of the PHC as chief justice and I shall do my best to provide all facilities to the lower judiciary, he added. Chief Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan said that dispensation of justice could not be ensured without a close relation between the Bar and the bench which according to him was hallmark of any legal system. He said he had been also a practising lawyer and in that capacity he was fully aware of the problems being faced by the lawyers community.

The chief justice promised to provide funds for the BDA library to make it a full fledged library for the utilization of the members of the DBA.
