LAKKI MARWAT: Jamaat-i-Islami provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has said that the country is being ruled by ‘mafia’ sitting in the government, which is responsible for the increasing prices of essential commodities, gas and electricity.

He was speaking at a social media training workshop in the auditorium hall in Lakki city on Saturday. Other speakers included JI provincial deputy chief Maulana Tasleem Iqbal, district chief Haji Azizullah Khan and JI youth provincial general secretary Hafeezullah.

Senator Mushtaq said that social media was an important platform for dissemination of information and reaching the people.

He asked the party workers to promote objective use of social media and respond to critics in a fair and decent manner.

The JI provincial chief said the government had destroyed the country’s economy by bowing to the policies of IMF and other international financial institutions.

“The foreign loans have increased by 45 per cent during the last over two years of the government due to its wrong policies,” he said and claimed that the increase in prices of electricity, gas and daily use commodities like sugar, flour, ghee, vegetables and oil products was being made on the directives of IMF.

Senator Mushtaq said the southern region was rich in resources, but the local people could not benefit from them.

He said his party would organise a public meeting in Naurang town of Lakki Marwat on Dec 27 under the banner of Haqooq-i-Janobi Azla Council.
