ISLAMABAD, Oct 4: The government on Tuesday assured newspaper employees that a meeting between Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and the representatives of journalists unions would be held on Thursday to resolve the issue of non-implementation of seventh wage board award.

The assurance came from Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis, Senator Tariq Azim Khan and Minister of State for Interior, Dr Shahzad Waseem, while speaking to the protesting journalists and the newspaper employees here on Tuesday.

The ministers told newspaper workers that in future there would be no need to hold any protest demonstrations as the issue would be resolved very soon.

They said that the government would try to solve all the problems faced by newspaper employees.

Earlier, the newspaper employees held a protest march from Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club Camp office to the parade ground in front of parliament house.
