HYDERABAD, Oct 4: Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, has said that Chinese experts will be hired to train workers of garments and textile industry.

He said land would be allotted in small industries estate to operate bangle industry in an organized manner.

He was talking to delegations of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SITE Association of Trade and Industry, transporters and Traders’ Action Committee at the circuit house here on Monday.

MQM leaders MPA Arshad Shah, Kanwar Naveed, Zafar Rajput, Siraj Rajput and secretary of the department, Nasir Hayat, DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed and heads of various departments were present on the occasion.

He told the chamber and SITE delegations that Chinese would be hired to train workers of garments industry for improving quality so that we could compete in the international market under the WTO regime.

He said the bangle industry had become more of a domestic industry and stressed the need for including it in the formal sector.

He said for the purpose, land would be earmarked in the Small Industries Estate and manufacturers would be given loan to run the industry in an organized manner.

Mr Siddiqui said the federal government had approved a grant of Rs1 billion for development of industrial areas and a matching grant had also been provided by the Sindh government.

The minister said the Sindh government had provided Rs500 million for improvement in infrastructure in different SITEs.

He called upon the investors to cooperate with the government in completion of development projects initiated by the government.

He said the government was also making all out efforts to bring about a visible improvement in the transport system and to introduce CNG culture.

He said in furtherance of the objective, the government had approved a loan of Rs500 million.

He said it was now up to the investors and transporters to take full advantage of the facility and convert the buses and four stroke rickshaws on CNG.

He called upon the DCO and other officials concerned to submit a report within a month for improvement of public transport system as well as the bus terminus.

Mr Siddiqui held a meeting with officials and received a briefing about ongoing development works in the city.

The minister assured the chamber and the Hyderabad SITE association that the provision of 300 acre land for expansion of SITE would be completed during the month.

Former president of the chamber, Amin Khatri, thanked the minister for the efforts in the reduction of transfer fee of plot in the SITE.

BUS TERMINUS: The taluka municipal administration of the City has declined to hand over physical possession of land of bus terminus to contractor, Zulfiqar Builders.

The contractor had failed to get the bus terminus plan approved from the director of the Building Control Authority and had also not completed the other legal formalities.

Under the circumstances, the TMA said the taluka municipal administration had not handed over physical possession of the bus terminus to the contractor.

The spokesman advised the transporters and other interested parties not to enter into any business deal with the builder.
