Published October 5, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 4: Health experts addressing a seminar on Tuesday described Alzheimer as one of the most misunderstood medical problems plaguing the society. The seminar was organized by the newly formed Alzheimer 1Pakistan Sindh Chapter at PMA House.

Underscoring the need for proper awareness about Alzheimer, the experts said that science had as yet no single cure for the ailment. It was mentioned that Alzheimer was a progressive, neurodegenerative disease characterized in the brain by abnormal clumps and tangled bundles of fibres (neurofibrillary tangles) composed of misplaced proteins.

Prof Mussarat Hussain, and Dr Salman Safdar of Alzheimer Pakistan also spoke at the seminar. —APP
