KASUR: Kot Radha Kishan police on Monday obtained four-day physical remand of five suspects, including three lawyers, and two others of the rival party booked in a case lodged under section 7 of ATA.
The Kasur District Bar Association observed a strike on Monday to show solidarity with the lawyers of Kot Radha Kishan tehsil bar.
On Saturday, the members of Kot Radha Kishan bar were on strike against the alleged highhandedness of police and [what they said] a fake case against them.
According to FIR lodged on the complaint of SI Muhammad Rafiq, suspect Muhammad Ali used abusive language against his [rival] counsel Qamar Sultan outside the court of Kot Radha Kishan additional district and sessions judge on Saturday.
Muhammad Ali and others of his group had come to the court for an interim bail in a case under sections 337-F1, A1, 379, 148 and 149 of PPC.
The abusive language by Ali led to exchange of harsh words that later resulted into a scuffle. Muhammad Israr advocate resorted to aerial firing, causing panic at the courts.
According to FIR, men of Muhammad Ali allegedly attacked the lawyers and opened fire on them and the lawyers retaliated.
Police booked 21 suspects, including 16 nominated of Muhammad Ali group and 10 lawyers [five of them nominated] and lodged a case against them under section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, 337 F2, 148 and 149 of PPC.
Police have arrested three of the suspects Qamar Sultan, Umar Sultan and Muhammad Salman of the lawyers side while Muhammad Ali and Boby were held from the Ali group.
DEMO: Residents of Raja Jang on Monday staged a demonstration against police for its alleged failure to arrest a suspect who attacked a complainant in a murder case.
The protesters also blocked Raiwind Road near Raja Jang police station and threw traffic out of gear.
The protesters alleged that Muhammad Azam was a complainant in the murder case of his brother Muhammad Sajid. Police had arrested the nominated suspect Shoaib Shabir. On Monday, relatives of Shoaib Shabir allegedly opened fire at Azam but he remained unhurt.
Villagers and relatives of Sajid staged a demonstration and demanded arrest of the suspect(s).
