Privacy of victims

MEDIA plays a key role in society by highlighting injustices, thus supporting those who have been wronged by projecting their voice in search of justice and accountability. It is also bound by law to protect the identities of rape victims

Sadly, some media outlets, particularly television channels and social media platforms, ignore such professional ethics in their bid to have higher ratings. They do not realise the impact their reporting may have on the victims.

The recent incident in Kashmore is a case in point where a disconcerting video was shared on social media. There is clearly a need to sensitise people and professionals so that they may play a responsible role in society.
