Two booked for torture of underage maid in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Madina Town police on Saturday registered a case against a man and a woman on charges of thrashing a minor maid in the Eden Valley housing scheme.

A footage of torture of the maid identified as Sadaf, 11, had gone viral on social media on Saturday. It showed a teenage boy, his mother and uncle, identified as Rana Munir, slapping and pushing the girl in a street.

According to police, Sadaf was tortured after she had a scuffle with children related to Munir.

The case was registered on the complaint of Samina Nadar, Child Protection Officer of the Faisalabad Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) under sections 34 and 328-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Ms Nadar said a citizen had called the CP&WB helpline on Saturday and also shared the torture footage. She said the incident took place on Dec 3.

City Police Officer Sohail Chaudhry said the suspect, Munir, had been arrested and the girl was handed over to her parents.

He said justice would be dispensed to the maid.

Well if there was any law and humanity/ human attitude, this will not had happened. Terrorist, crimal lawmakers are not ready to amend the 1860 laws,that favoured criminals of subcontinent to empower the eastindian company of the royals.Nobody is secure,no one wants to invest here, no justice prevails. Let PM Ik work for at least 5 years to clean the corrupt/wild inheritance of ppp and pml n, age of jungle, that lasted for 30 years.

from the video the way the police treated the offender, it seems highly unlikely that the poor maid will get justice.

Sadaf should be in school but poverty must have led her to work as a maid. Punish the employers and those involved most severely. There should be a law against hiring children.

@well-wisher, these children work to earn money to feed their families not for fun. If they don't work; they go hungry. I also work as a child in Pakistan, but I stayed in school also. Nothing wrong in working if it is in addition to school, not instead of school.
