RAWALPINDI: PCB Chall­engers clinched the National Triangular T20 Women’s cricket title after sealing a narrow seven-run victory over PCB Dynamites in the championship final at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

After being put into bat by Dynamites captain Ramim Shamim, the Challengers managed a modest total of 133-7 with Kainat Hafeez emerging as the top-scorer by making 31. Her 27-ball knock was laced with three fours and one six.

Fatima Sana was the only other batter to surpass the 20-run mark as she hit an undefeated 24 off 22 balls with the aid of one six and one four.

Leg-spinner Subhana Tariq bowled superbly to claim three wickets for 37 runs with slow left-armer Nashra Sandhu and off-spinner Ramim taking one apiece.

The Dynamites, in reply, were restricted to 126-6 despite excellent contributions from opener Nahida Khan (39 off 37 balls, three fours and two sixes) and all-rounder Kainat Imtiaz (an unbeaten 32 off 29, two boundaries).

Leg-spinner Aroob Shah was brilliant in picking up two wickets for 17 runs with good support from seamers Aiman Anwar, Fatima and off-spinning all-rounder Nida Dar.

Later, Challengers skipper Muneeba Ali, who had excelled behind the stumps with three dismissals, collected the winners’ trophy and prize-money of Rs1 million, while Ramin was presented with the runners-up Rs500,000 award.

Kainat Imtiaz was adjudged player-of-the-tournament for her tally of 111 runs and three wickets and received Rs50,000.

Kainat Hafeez who was declared player-of-the-match.
