SHANGLA: The district administration has closed a suspension bridge connecting several villages with the main Bisham-Swat Road near Bisham owing to its ramshackle condition.

Deputy commissioner Hamidur Rehman issued a notification the other day imposing a ban on travel on the Kormang Bridge, which links Kormang, Chichlo, Sangrai, Shahtoot and Sasobay villages with the Bisham-Swat Road near Bisham.

The notification said on the request of assistant commissioner, Bisham, Khuram Rehman Jadoon, the suspension bridge had been closed for all sorts of traffic. The bridge was damaged at several points, and was thus dangerous for travel.

The notification said the vehicular traffic would remain suspended for 30 days and the violators would be punished under the law.

AC Khuram Rehman Jadoon told reporters that after repairs the suspension bridge would be reopened to traffic.

Meanwhile, the local residents demanded of the district administration to repair the bridge as soon as possible as it was the only source of connecting them with the main road.

Meanwhile, residents of Puran and Martung tehsils demanded of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to ensure smooth power supply to both the tehsils during winter as power remain suspended for hours.

Talking to mediapersons, they said electricity supply remained suspended for days after the recent rain and snowfall in Yakhtangay. They said Pesco authorities should take concrete measures to ensure smooth power supply to their areas.
