Violence and rape

Published November 26, 2020

IT is unfortunate that Pakistan is no longer considered safe for women, children and transgender people. The reported cases of rape and abuse are just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of cases go unreported because of multiple factors.

The victims should never be blamed. Why is our society blaming the unfortunate souls for the way they dress, walk or the time they choose to step out of their homes? It is never the victim’s fault and will never be.

The authorities concerned should ensure a safe environment for women, children and transgender people. It is time the authorities went beyond political rhetoric and did the right thing.
