CM solicits votes

Published October 2, 2005

FAISALABAD, Oct 1: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has asked councillors to exercise their votes in favour of PML-backed candidates so that they could implement government policies.

He was speaking at meetings of elected nazims, naib nazims and councillors of Samundri and Jaranwala towns in the local Circuit House here on Saturday.

The chief minister said they should not waste their votes by casting them in favour of ARD candidates because they had no aim to serve the public.

He said that nominees of the ruling PML would clean sweep the third phase of the local body polls as the people had already expressed their satisfaction over the policies of rulers during the first two phases of elections.

Scores of steps, he said, were being taken to provide basic amenities to the people at their doorstep through the local council system. — Staff Correspondent
