KARACHI, Oct 1: A programme was organized to celebrate first birth centenary of Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan by the Quaid-i-Millat Memorial Committee, at the Vocational Training Centre for Disabled persons on Saturday.
Groups of special children paid rich tributes to the Quaid-i-Millat Khan Liaquat Ali Khan and Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan by performing on various national songs and tableaus.
Speaking on the occasion, the director-general of Social Welfare Irfanullah Khan said that the government was taking important initiatives to ensure provision of latest facilities to the special children.
A message from Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan was also read out in the programme. In his message the Sindh governor said that no nation could make headway without the involvement of its womenfolk in the development of the society.
He said in the history Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan was on the top. She motivated the female folk of Pakistan to engage their talents and efforts for the betterment of the society and would be remembered as a lady of high calibre and a beacon of light and wisdom, the message concluded.
The president of the Quaid-i-Millat Memorial Committee, Major-General (retd) Bashir Khan also spoke.—APP
