MULTAN: In what appears to be an unusual practice, members of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s family including a government employee are inaugurating development schemes.

The recent example is the inauguration of Rescue 1122 service and a police post at Darwaishnagar, an area in Khanewal’s Mian Channu tehsil. It was done by Aslam Khan Buzdar, the father-in-law of the chief minister.

The ceremony was also attended by MNA Pir Zahoor Hussain Qureshi, MPA Ali Abbas, District Police Officer Muhammad Ali Waseem, District Emergency Officer Muhammad Khalid and other notables of the area.

Speaking to the participants, Aslam Buzdar said work on other development projects of the area was under way as the chief minister wanted to see Mian Channu and Khanewal on a par with other developed areas of the province.

In the home district of the chief minister, his brothers are also inaugurating the development schemes and being invited as chief guests even at strictly official ceremonies. There are reports that they are also interfering in the official matters such as transfer and posting of government employees.

Tahir Buzdar, a younger brother of the chief minister, inaugurated New College Road of Taunsa Sharif. He was accompanied by the assistant commissioner, the chief municipal officer, the sub-divisional officer (provincial highways) and others.

Umar Buzdar, another brother of the chief minister, is said to be inaugurating development schemes and visiting events as chief guest despite the fact that he is an employee of the Border Military Police in Dera Ghazi Khan.

A few months ago, he opened a link road from Basti Buzdar to Balwani Road and while addressing the ceremony, assured the participants that efforts would be made to complete all the development projects after getting approval from Usman Buzdar.

He also was the chief guest at a ceremony where the machinery for cleanliness of Taunsa city reached at the Tehsil Municipal Committee besides inaugurating a langarkhana in Taunsa Sharif on Oct 12 last.

An officer from Khanewal said the direction about inauguration of the projects by Aslam Buzdar came from the CM office.
